People with Twisted Wedge heads come in here..
 

I just installed some new twisted wedge heads.. The problem is my pushrods(6.25) are too short, don't understand how this can be since I have the same set-up as in my old car.

E-cam, 1.6 rocker, etc...

Can the supplied rocker studs be too big, are the ARP studs smaller...? for the life of me, I can't remember if I was using the arp or the supplied studs with my old set-up..

The thickness of the heads is differant. When you ordered the heads you should have been told that you would need a longer push rod.

the pushrods you need are 6.700". If you look in summit with the twisted wedge head and intake kit they have them in it with the part # you need. TFS21406700

That must be the reason why the pushrods don't fit.. But I still remember the previous rocker studs being much shorter than these studs that were supplied by TFS.


So This means I will not be able to reuse the stock valve covers.... Now I have shell out another $85 for some new pushrods and find some taller valve covers. :rolleyes:

Stock covers fit...but you'll have to remove the baffles and do some grinding to make them clear the rockers. I have TFS standard height covers on mine and they fit great.

One of the advantages of TFTW heads is that the valve cover rim on the heads is raised about 1/4" so that you can run roller rockers with the stock valve covers.

Also I seem to remember a lengthy area of the installation instructions detailing how to check for correct push rod length so that the roller will end up in the middle of the valve stem after installation. That's very important to minimize side loading of the valve stem against the valve guides.
