What do you mean you can't get the tranny to line up? What year is the car, what motor and what tranny? Is it a fox body with a 2.3 and a C3? Ford did not put the aod behind the 2.3L. Are your trying to put an AOD behind a 2.3? That won't fit. Please specify what you mean by "won't line up".

Id say the converter is not all the way into the tranny.

Check your fly wheel, you say your doing a engine swap, stupid ? but is the motor your replacing it with, was it a 5spd trans or a AUTO? the flywheels are different obviously.

i said we were doing it stupid cuz my dad didnt want to take the tranny out like i did.
its 2.3 auto ( i thought they were an aod but why would they put a aod in a small motor like that right?) and the motor we got was a 2.3 auto aswell .
as for it wont line up we cant get the studs on the converter to line up wahts the easiest way to do that ??

hope thast a bit better on info

thanks
mike

I am at a loss on this one, the trans should line up. there isn't any modifications between 4cyl motors. i would have to say either converter isn't in all the way.

You can't get the studs on the converter to line up in the flywheel? I use a long screwdriver to turn the torque converter to line them up. Make sure the flywheels have the same bolt pattern too. I don't see why they won't, but it is worth looking at. When you pulled the old motor, you may have pulled the converter out some also. If everything is right, you just got to jack and jerk and push and pull and twist, but she will go in there.
