starting issues

My car has been taking longer to start hear and there--It is clearly turning over but not fireing--
Today I must have layed into her for about 15 seconds--felt like an hour. I said screw it and popped the clutch down the driveway --popped like lightning going slower that an ant---so its not fuel or spark--what gives--I also noticed a slight idle surge.
Also once the car got hot it started right up several times----ica?tps? anybody help please.

I will check voltage on both in the morning---till then help. thanks, joe

Does it start O.K. after sitting over night? Or is it just hard to start after sitting for an hour or so? It sounds like you may have injectors leaking down into the cylinders and basically flooding the engine. Next time it's acting up, try holding the fuel pedal to the floor while cranking the engine over, this tells the computer to shut off the fuel when your cranking it. If it starts up fine that way, time for a new set of injectors, or you can just live with it like that.

Damn, Not what i wanted to hear--But makes sense--
Thanks for the input.. It just started fine this morning 3 times in a row....I guess It will be time to upgrade maf and injectors:D
Atleast i have an excuse now!!!!

Has it been starting fine now for a while? how long has it been since your last major tune up?

Tripleduece 08-08-2004 05:30 PM

Maybe a couple months since air/fuel/plugs.
Going to get new rotor button, cap and maybe coil soon as pm but shouldnt need it as all are in pretty decent shape---speaking of wich---anyone here run sreamin deamon coil/plugs

Is it worth the loot?

thanks,joe

ok, well i would do the cap and rotor, also the plug wires.. If its does it more on a damp day, that would indicate cap-rotor-wires etc. screamin demon is fine. The crane setups are nice to for a coil.

I will be ordering the cap and rotor tonight---
Do you happen to know what wires besides "live wires" I could run w/ the deamon coil.

It states a plug gap of .060 is good and promotes too much spark for regular wires?

FORD RACING 9mm wires and MSD's are fine. both under 50 bucks.
