Silly question
OK, I just noticed this about MW,(Only took me what 6 years? ) In each forum you have the thread list and down the left of them are a bunch of different "letter" icons. I know the "locked" etc, but whats the envelope with the black dot about?
Thanks for indulging my idle curiosity, J |
Hey, whatcha think about the Hot Rods this weekend in pigeon forge.
Unreal huh? |
What I saw of it was pretty cool, except the traffic:mad: I didn't get to go out and really check anything out due to G/F working yesterday and today, so she had/has the car. She said traffic was bad enough yesterday that it took her 30 mins to get from the "Vineyards" by the scooter/golfcart rental place to Wears Valley.
I considered walking down there, but after last week at work, I'm kinda in slacker mode, lol. I heard some nice sounding runs last night from somewhere nearby. Tho I saw a sweet dk blue 66 fastback twice on the road in the last couple of days. Makes me wish mine was up:( I've made a pledge tho, that this time next year Lenore will be in good enough shape to take down and cruise. I noticed in the latest of Mustangs and fords that there going to be having the Smoky Mtn regional Mustang and Ford show on Oct 2-3. Its even going to be right by our house. I'm so there. You going? J |
Depending on the weather, I'll probably go.
EVENT LINK and don't forget this one either.... Ted Russell Ford ,,,Parkside Drive Knoxville I was riding bicycles in Townsend at 0700 this morning  Coming back on Wears Valley toward PF, traffic was getting bad at 0930. Suc's, but you'll learn the times and backroads to manage it. |
A plain blue envelope means no new posts in the thread since your last session.
A plain blue envelope with a dot in it means the same, but you've responded to the thread previously. A plain yellow means that there are new posts in the thread. A plain yellow envelope with a dot in it means there are new posts in the thread, and you've also responded previously. If the envelope has little lines shooting out from the top of it then it means the thread is a hot topic (has over 20 responses or a 100 views) An arrow means the thread has been moved to another forum. |
Frank: I hadn't heard about the Ted Russell thing, looks interesting. Where's Townsend? Sorry, still getting the landmarks, as it were.
Dan: Thanks for the clarification, it was one of those little things that bug ya until you know the answer:D J |

OK, gotcha, the scary part is that it make some kind of sense, lol. I've only been up Wears Valley a couple of miles , but it looks like a fun road.
Is the Townsend trail just a bike/jogging trail? We had the "trail" back home too that ran all through Pinellas (Sorry brain fart as to the official name). Off topic, but this just made me think of it, are there any indoor rock climbing places around here? Me and some friends used to do the indoor climbing thing, and I'd love to try it again, tho I'm not sure that I'm good enought to try the real thing. Anyway, thanks for putting up with my wandering topic self:D J |

The blue line here is the 11 mile loop of Cades Cove. It is blocked off to car traffic on Wed and Sat 7AM-10 may-sept22nd. This is the road EVERYONE drives to see a deer, bear, wolf, squirrel whatever. Its a sweet bicycle ride with no cars. During the winter I think its only blocked on Saturday mornings. It changes some years. Moderate difficulty on bikes, although you can short cut it too 6.5 miles. If you ever head that way, go wears valley way to it. Or you will road rage if you take the gatlinburg way. Campers, scooters and crap clog the roads. Cades cove can take 4 hrs to drive around on the weekends. Morning is the best time, (least traffic). THATS 4 HRS, 11miles..... Townsend has a asphalt path along the HWY. It sits 30 yards off the HWY and is a few miles long. Great riding surface, (bikes, walk, jog) almost completly flat. My wife will go to this one, not the Cove. |
