valve cover cleaning
I have had these ford racing valve covers for a while...and can not seem to figure out a way to get them shinny and clean again. They act like some grease/oil residue have gotten on them and now have baked that on. They look a little cloudy and I have not found anything yet that will clean them. Any one got any ideas

Are they polished aluminum? There are several metal polishes that you could use if they are not clear coated. Nev-R-Dull is pretty good stuff, if that doesn't work, there is some metal polish in a tube called Wenol that is excellent. Not sure where to get it, I got mine at a swap meet, and they were demonstrating on a polished valve cover.

Re: valve cover cleaning
Wenol works awesome. Summit Racing sells it, besides that it's hard to find here where I live. I'd use an aluminum cleaner on them 1st, such as a wheel cleaner, that would get any tarnish off with little effort/scrubbing. Then try to polish them out an see what the end result is.. If that doesnt work use something such as bleach-white it'll get them clean but it will eat the finish off as well, you'll have to bring back the shine by polishing them. I reccomend using a dremel with a buffing wheel on it, then finishing it out by hand. Beware this will take some ammount of time tho.
