keep the mice out

im fixin to put my baby in storage for the winter in a buddys polebarn that lives out in the country and was wondering if there was any way to keep mice out of my car. last car that was in there was there for a while and was destroyed by mice eating the seats and wires. he said that he has sprayed and such but i just want to be safe.

Patchuli oil scares away most pests but rats are a voracious bunch. I assume a heavy chemical stench would keep them away. Lay down some petri dishes filled with friction modifier and differential lubricant. Most mammals are intelligent enough to avoid such things.

I would say toulene or gas but that would evaporate in short order.

Even better, place the car on jackstands so the little buggers can't reach it!

Oooor....just place food somewhere else so they go for that instead of the ride. Toss some scraps in a small container in the general vicinity. They will be more interested in the food than a large metal object.

There is a possum in my neighborhood that likes to climb up and sit on top of the engine (I assume it's a bit warmer up there) after he eats the dogfood. He's our unofficial 3rd pet. =)

I can't explain why, but Bounce fabric softener sheets work excellent. Put several in and around your car, the interior, and the engine compartment, and it will keep the mice away. It will also make your car smell better when you go to pick it up. :)

i used to just put glue traps all around the car with some peanut butter on them, worked for me, but did not have a lot of mice, just a few
