Good budget pistons/ rebuild kit????

I am currently running the stock bottom end and my car hauls @ss. I have Canfield aluminum heads, E-303 cam and a ported cobra intake.

I want more compression like 11 to 1 and I want more piston to valve clearance. The cammotion custom cam I ordered has 542 lift.

I have a good spare block but I honestly dont know who to go with as far as forged pistons are concerned for a 11 to 1 306. I am pretty much doing a stock rebuild with ARP bolts and high compression pistons.

I bought a set of Probe SRS pistons, and the quality is second to none. 11:1 might be a bit tough though, prolly going to have to find a set of domes. I think flat tops should put you in the 9.5:1 range, depending on Combustion chamber cc, etc etc. Can always knock .010" off of those Canfields too, but then you may need to get the pistons fly cut for the valves. Just my $.02 :)

Yeah, what he said. What size are the chambers on your heads? Mine is about 9.5:1 with flat tops, zero decked, .038 compressed gasket, 58cc heads, and huge valve reliefs. You prolly dont want to cut the crap out of your heads, so you will prolly need a little dome.

The best advice I can offer is to get the lightest possible pistons that your budget can afford. The lighter they are, the more expensive they are. Dont be afraid to spend 2-300 bucks on a decent ring package either. I'd suggest Probe or Wiseco. If you decide to spend the money on a set of CP's, let me know. Theres only 2 people in the country that get better deals than a good friend of mine.

My heads have 58cc combustion chambers and 2.02 1.60 valves.

I was looking at some Wiseco pistons on ebay but didnt know if they were any good. They were 10 to 1 with valve reliefs that could accomidate .600 lift with 2.02 1.60 valves.

What ring kit do you reccomend?

I like a .043 plasma moly top, .043 Napier Total seal second, (gapped) 3mm Sealed power low tension oil ring, for a NA motor. If you plan to run nitrous or a blower later on, they would change.
