Anyone shipped wheels? From USA to Canada?

I am looking at getting a set of AFS 4 Lug Cobra R wheels, and tires.

How much do you think one of the whels/tires weighs?

Has anyone shipped large items across the border? Anything happen? How much did it come out to?

Here is my guess:
US$
Wheels/Tires $1,000.00
total $1,000.00

CDN$
Wheels/Tires $1,560.00
Shipping $200.00
Brokerage $40.00
Taxes $234.00

Total $2,034.00

What do you think? Did I forget anything?

Ian

I've only shipped tires (my Nittos) from the US & they came via UPS ground alot faster than expected & looking good.

Rims shouldn't be all that heavy if they ship them in separate boxes.

Wheels are about 22#, without tires.

There's a place in Brantford Ontario that has new take-offs at GREAT prices ($1800+tax Canadian I think). It'll all be 5 lug, but they may have some aftermarket stuff too. They advertise in the Tri-ad (I think it's been renamed now).

These are just across the border in Michigan, and have some good prices:
http://www.buyfordmotorsport.com/ http://www.karkraft.com/ (5lug Roush wheels & tires for $699!!!!)

Diversified Marketing Solutions has take-off stuff at incredible prices too! (800-995-4003) You can get the 99/00 calipers for $30 each, and rotors for $10 each (you need 94+ spindles etc).

I seen some guy in Toronto with the 4 lug cobra r's that you're looking at. He must have ordered them locally cuz shipping anything over the border is a ***** .

I live close to the US boerder so I ship stuff to a Shipping place located on the US side and then pick it up myself and take it through the border. I ordered stuff from Summit since they ship to the continental US for free. If the purchased item is made in north america then you only have to pay the taxes, no duty. So, if you live close to the border then you may want to consider this option.

Thanks for all the replies.

Any more comments?

I have found a used set of 16" pony rims in B.C, I hope to get those. I have always liked the look of those pony's http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif
