turbos??

I've got a stock 87 GT and have heard of guys who have gone to the junkyard and have gotten turbos out of various cars and have adapted them to work on their Mustangs. Anyone have any ideas on that and if it could be done? I have access to a 87 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe and just wondered if that could be installed on a 5.0 in anyway? Thanks....

Yes it can be done.

What you'll need is 2 Turbo coupe T-3 turbos and T-3 exhaust flanges, some exhaust piping, some intake piping, all oil lines. Isn't overly difficult but you do need to have some idea of what you're doing and have access to the proper tools.

When getting the turbos, make sure you get the same ones, either both from and auto or from a manual tranny Turbo coupe, since the turbo AR ratios are different. 0.48 for auto, 0.63 for manual.

I'd suggest doing a bunch of reading on turbo kits and such before hand so you have a good grasp of what all will be needed.

Oh but your 87 isn't gonna like the turbos since its the stock speed density ECU. You'll definitely need to find a shop that can tune you stock ECU. And even if you switch to a MAF setup, you'll still need a proper tune done on the car.

Thanks for your help. Does my engine stay stock or is their adjustments or modifications to do? Thanks....

You'll need to upgrade your fuel system and a custom exhaust will need to be done to get the turbo's to mate up with your H-pipe.

The motor can stay stock, just the exhaust will been to be modified if you use the stock headers. Since the T-3 exhaust flange won't bolt up to a stock exhaust flange, completely different.

Some fenderwell hacking will probably be needed aswell to fit the turbos up front, but its well worth it.

Any other questions just ask and I'll answer what I can, or feel free to PM me.
