TPS reading 1.0V all the time... WTF?
Recently pulled codes on my car just to kill time and got a TPS too high code. I have checked it several times before when doing intake installs etc... and never had a problem getting it to read < 1.0 at KOEO.
After getting the code I checked it with a DMM and it read 1.0 at KOEO. No matter what position I put it in it reads 1.0. Even doing the full throttle sweep it reads 1.0. I put a spare TPS on and it did the same thing. I am using the green wire and grounding the other lead just like always. What is causing this? Anybody have this happen before? |
Re: TPS reading 1.0V all the time... WTF?
should be the center wire also check for 5volt reference

Re: TPS reading 1.0V all the time... WTF?
Yeah, check voltage between the orange and black to see if there is 5 volts there. At idle you shouldnt have 1 volt between the green and black, you should have between .95 and .98. Also make sure your meter is set to DC. :D

Re: TPS reading 1.0V all the time... WTF?
I'll check for the 5V. I am checking the TPS correctly with the meter set on 2V DC as I have done it many times. I have a feeling that 5V is not going to show. Then what?

Most All Your Senors Have 5 Volt Ref, But It Comes From The Ecu,maybe Only A Bad Wire Or Connector, check For 5volt At The Map Or Bps.or Maf :(

O.K. I'll check tomorrow. Thanksgiving left me with no time to work on the car. Thanks

Re: TPS reading 1.0V all the time... WTF?
O.K., checked for the 5V reference between the black and orange wires. I get .09V between the two. When I move the ground wire of the DMM over to an engine ground it goes to 5.09V with KOEO. What does this mean? Bad ground? If so, where do I check first?
I check the wires at the MAF as well and could not get 5V with any of the wires even using an engine ground. Which color wire am I checking on the MAF? I tried the red and got 12V. The other wires I got nothing. |
