'65 Fastback Rear Seat Installation
I'm reinstalling the interior of my '65 Fastback. I can't figure out how the rear shelf (the panel nearest the trap door that leads to the trunk) is installed.
I've purchased many restoration manuals, etc. but none of them touch on the subject. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm kind of at a standstill until I get this done. You can reply here or email me at Steveeb@aol.com Thanks -Steve |

Re: '65 Fastback Rear Seat Installation
Ok, there's 3 panels for the rear seat. Moving from the front seats towards the trunk, the first panel is a 90 degree angle. The second panel ends up being the seat back when in the up position. The third panel is stationary. It's the closest to the trunk. That's the one I'm trying to figure out how to install.
I see on the bottom of this panel various bolt holes as well as having two thin strips of metal (look like sheet metal maybe 2" wide x 4" long). These look like they slip under something in the floor? Maybe I'm missing some brakets? I'm just trying to figure out how this panel attaches to the body. Right now all she's doing is floating. Any help is appreciated. |
Re: '65 Fastback Rear Seat Installation
ok, it has been a few years since i have had mine out, but we will get you thru it. I was thinking the metal tabs slid under brackets that was welded to the floor....and that the tabs were threaded(slightly)? Is there any holes in your tabs?

Yes there are. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. I took a couple pics and put them here ----> http://www.geocities.com/battlese/mustang_interior_pics
Hopefully it'll help. I'll have to grab the other digital camera from work. That one has a good zoom on it so you can get a better look. Thanks for your help. |
