'04 Lexus IS 300 has balls??

Can I get some info on these cars from someone who knows?

1/4 mile? HP?

I was relaxing with my sister and her roomate last night, drinking a little bit, when their neighbors come over to shoot the $heeit. Two guys both 20 years old. As we're talking, one of the guys starts bragging how fast his roomate's car is. I ask what he drives and he points to a '04 Lexus IS 300. He tells me it has balls and I just kind of chuckled and said "it looks nice and I'm sure the ride is great but it doesn't have balls". So he continues on, telling me how fast it is and blah blah blah....he says it's fast because it's a stick and he had it going 65mph in second gear. Apparently since the car can do 65 in second, it's fast. I told him I've driven much faster cars than that and he got all pissed demanding to know what cars I drove that were more powerful. When I told him about my car, he laughed it off saying there is no way my car was faster than the IS 300 (which was stock BTW). Then I asked him if the Lexus can bark the tires on the 3-4 shift like my car can and he shut up real fast. :D :D

I would have taken the Lexus out that night but we were pretty buzzed already. If we seem them again, I'm going to take it on a little test drive to see if it has "balls" or not.

A good buddy of mine bought one. He loves it and compares it to the nissan altima with the 240 horse v-6. It is quick, but not the caliber of a good ole v-8 stang (generally). He did say that he ran with a newer stang (not sure on year) one night on the interstate and he was able to keep things even to 130 or so. All in all he thinks it is a nice car, but would tell you most stangs would put a hurtin to him.

My friend has an Auto one. It runs 16.3 @ 86. The 5 spd's i have seen are high 15 Sec cars....

My wife's 2000 ES 300 is 212 hp. The IS 300 is an inline 6 RWD, but the displacement is the same I would guess. 215 sounds about right to me.
My son owns a 2003 SC 430. It;s supposed to have 300 hp but weighs in near 4000 lbs. I think it would run low-mid 14's in the 1/4 mile. The Lexus cars are nice and well built, that's a given. None that I know of could be considered really fast though.

Yeah, my SHO can stomp one pretty hard. Now, I have seen some fast turbo ones on the internet, but never in my area.

I'm sure the IS300 isn't fast, but barking the 3-4 shift doesn't mean you're that fast

That's with lift-throttle shifting. No powershifting. :)

But I don't have to worry about it now....the L can take care of things
