wheels
Hi
I just found out I need new set of rims. Can anyone verify what the bolt pattern would be and what modern rims might I use. I have a 1966 mustang coupe. I know it is a 5 bolt 14 x 5 but what do I call the bolt pattern . The wrecking yard asked for it in millimeters. Any ideas? What would be a good fit for this year? Thx Guys |
Re: wheels
Stock steel's are 14X5 with 3 3/4 inch backspace, 4.5 inch 5 lug.
If your going to replace all the wheels Id just go with 15x7 or something. You will be able to find alot more tires for 15's and larger disc brakes will fit. |
Re: wheels
Cragar Super Sports look great on Classic Mustangs, mine are 14 X 7's on BFGoodrich Radial T/A's 205/70-14. I have a friend with 15 X 7's but I dont know the tire size. American Racing Torque Thrust D's look good too, but I have loved Cragars since the 60's.

Re: wheels
I have 15 X 7 Cragers with 225/60R15 tires. All fit good and look good.

Re: wheels
Back in the 60's so many Mustangs rolled on Cragars you would have thought they were original equipment. I was in elementary school, too young to own one, but the picture stuck in my head, the ONLY wheels for my 65 are Cragars. I would like to have redline tires to wrap around them too, but the sizes are limited and they arent radials, so the T/As are cool.

Re: wheels
Thx Everyone
I think I will look for some 15 x 7 s. I am told that any modern ford mustang wheel will fit the same bolt pattern. Thx again for the replies |
Re: wheels
I tell you what, those new Mustang wheels with the spinner are sweet! I think they'd look awsome on a ole'stang. I wonder what the backspace is on those.
Cragers, LMAO!. I so much hated those wheels back then. Add Keystones, and the little hole'd Rocket wheels to that list. Some reason I like them now? |
