351w mian caps question
 

i gave my cousin a 77 351w 2bbl engine for free, i am now kicing myself, and he took it to an engine builder to get it dipped. he threw out the crank rods pistons knowing he was buying all new parts. he also threw out the main caps. engine builder said block is a boat anchor now. is this true? is it worth keeping? thanks

I dont see why it would be a boat anchor because of that. You can buy aftermarket main caps.

Or find a "boat anchor" and take the main caps off it and have block align bored/honed.

Plenty of 351W that are "Junk". Cracked, broken, overbored to far, etc.

What Gearhead999 said. Get some new or used caps , have it line bored and your ready to go!

I've got a for real 351W Boat Anchor block that has good caps. The block had water in cyl #4, so it's pitted pretty bad. And it was already bored .060 over. PM me if interested.
