i love my mechanic:)

this is an email from my mechanic who does work for me on the side. he is dirt cheap and knows his chit which is nice. i went to monroe to get an alignment and all they said was that i needed the upper ball joint and then they could align it properly. AMAZING- they wanted 340 dollars to do this. i said no thanks. read below to find all the other things it needs as well.
my questions is, will any of these things help me out in the 1/4 mile times as far as 60' times? tahnks,

jim

"Good News, The ball joint did come in yesterday.
Now the part I don't like. The left lower Ball Joint is going bad, the right
one is starting to go(these are the original Ball joints), and the right
outer Tie Rod is binding(split sleeve), and the Left outer Tie rod should be
replaced .
Last year when we did all the bushings, I know I had second thoughts about
the Outer Tie Rods, but they took grease and seem to free up. They were
starting to show wear but not to point of replacement.
I do have these parts coming today, we are looking at approx. 245 .00
parts. This is for Good "Moog" Ball joints, Parts Plus outer tie rods,
links and clevis. Also one sway bar link is bent. I think I have a spare one
(no/charge),and I will double check end play on the left inner rod end. If
this is wearing that will be warranty since that was with the Remanufactured
Steering Rack( if you remember I went through two of these to get a good
one?). With all that great news to dump on you, these need to be done to get
the front end right, and align properly.
I have not forgotten your Remote Bottle Opener either.
With all that said, we may be Thursday for pick-up .

Hey Jim, how u been? if these is a track only car i would get the alignment done to drag specs. i doubt you would see a big difference in 1/4 mile time, maybe a TINY difference and that is a big maybe. but if you drive the car daily you need to fix these things so you dont get stuck on the road and for general saftey on track and street. seems like an honest mechanic, i would ask him the same question you posted to use here take care man.

hey ghetto, whats up? thanks for replying. he is actually a great mechanic and is dirt cheap. i had ball joints all around on a blazer i own replaced by him and was LESS than 1/2 of what good year and monro muffler would have charged. i take everything to him i own that cant do myself. the only thing is i have to wait a little while before getting it back, which is ok. i didnt think it would do much for 1/4 mile times, but thought i would check. this is a daily driven (in summer time if its nice) car. sees the track about 2-3 times a year is all. but i get like 10 runs in though when i go, so it is beat on pretty good. take care
