exhaust flow?

I was reading an interesting side-note in the latest 5.0 magazine the other day. In that column, it stated that baffled mufflers (such as the flowmasters we all use to get that deep tone) restrict the flow from x-pipes enough to negate the hp gains. It said that after the x, the flow of air picks up speed considerably and apon entering the muffler the baffles slow it back down. Since I have an x-pipe, this concerns me considerably. Has anyone heard of this before? It does make a certain amount of sense, but will I be able to feel a difference if run say, 2chamber instead of 3? Or should I just go w/straight pipes?

Edelbrock RPM mufflers are straight threw and work well with the x-pipe no baffles in it.

Yes, I've heard this too....with the xpipe's hp is actually lost unless you're running hi-flow mufflers w/ a straight through flow design.

if you have a stock, or near stock mustang, you want some back pressure, so don't worry about it. either way, cat-backs, no matter what they are, don't produce that much back pressure, and if you run a muffler with no baffles, it'll probably be pretty loud.

Yes they are Loud but not bad if it is under 1600.

Yeah, read that 2. Whats interesting to me is that DrGas sold X-pipes along with Spin Tech mufflers, which to me look like a sort of baffeled muffler?
