motor assembling questions

What do you guys use on your intake bolts for sealing/seepage from oil? I have antisieze because of the aluminium heads. How about your head bolts? Now your supposed to us molylube/30w oil, I have permatex assembly lube. same thing? Now if your using a lube on the bolts, how do you seal the lower head bolts? IM reusing SCE copper headgaskets with the block oringed. Im getting ready to anneal the head gaskets, torch. Any advice?

Re: motor assembling questions

Oil on the top ones and sealant on the bottoms. I've never had a problem with intake bolts seeping oil, but you could use a touch of sealant on there as well. I would NEVER reuse head gaskets either. good luck.

Re: motor assembling questions

Use sealer on the 4 corner intake bolts (where the water is) and it wouldn't hurt on the others, although not necessary.

Moly lube is good for the top head bolts, but use good sealer on the bottom ones. Not familiar with your head gaskets, but like USMC said, that's a big no-no in my book. Unless the manufacturer says you can, and explains how. That's the ONLY way head gaskets would go back on. ;)

Everyone reuses copper head gaskets. They cost a grip but are reusable so they are worth it.

ARP makes a dandy thread sealer that is also an excellent thread lube to get your torque correct.
