It seems like a lot of posts lately have been about the white face guages. To correct your speedo, you need to change the speedometer gear that feeds into the tranny. I am not sure how many teeth you will need on the new gear though, nor have I figured out where to get this info. I know I have seen charts showing different combos and the correct gear to get, but I don't know where. Maybe call Summit or a Ford dealer and they can send you in the right direction. The gear itself is fairly cheap (10-20 bucks) and is easy to swap out. This is all assuming you have a T-5.

When i replaced my gears i replaced one of the two gears in the tranny (T-5) forget what the two are called but it was the easier one (plugs into side of tranny),i think this is the speedo cable??
I think the other interchangable gear is inside rear tail housing? hope not!

Well, since I have done quite allot of research on this subject, I will be able to help you. It is actually very simple.

All you have to do is drop by your local ford dealership and tell them you have a 89GT. That will give you the correct speedo top speed. Now, one problem is that you have 373 gear, I have 273, so it is a little more confusing. I would just go to the dealership and tell them you have a 89GT with 373 and tell them your tire size, they should be able to help you.

Let me know!

Hey guys,
Thanks for your help but the dealership in
my town says the 89-93 140 MPH speedo is no longer available!!I even saw it on the computer screen? The head tecch. there (who is an exellelent mech. says i need the actual 140 MPH speedo mechinism at the end of the speedo cable in the dash to make it work.He had gone when I learned part was unavaiable.
If so many companies sell these gauge faces for 87's&88's there must be somone who sells these things? The dumb a** at the parts counter told me to try & find one at a junkyard!(impossable since I couldn't even find a rear sway bar at one around here!)
So somone please help so I can stop having to do the math when I go over 85!!!

I am in the same situation.

I will be going to the junkyard when the snow melts and getting an actual 140MPH. You will find one because some 4cyl came with the 140MPH.
