Intake Tube Question
I'm going to be putting a 80mm MAF on my car very shortly but I don't have an intake pipe from the MAF to TB that will fit.
What do you guys recommend or run on your cars? Any manufacturers make anything that will work? I looked at some cold air kits, and the C&L True Flow pipe, but they only went for up to 76mm MAF's not the 80mm like I'm using. I have looked at the AFM Power Pipe but its so ******* expensive I can't justify the cost. Especially here it ends up costing around 600 bucks for the AFM, and I don't have the kinda coin for a intake pipe. FYI the MAF is 80mm and TB is 75mm. Need a intake tube very very soon. Thanks in advance. |

I'm assuming you've got the bolt-on filter Pro-M 80? That's what I've got. Check out what I've made for mine (attached pic). It is a 6" filter to the meter, then about a foot of 4" OD aluminum tubing, to a 90 degree boot that tapers from 4" to 3.5" (to my 75mm TB). I cut the boot at a bit of an angle larger than 90* to get it to kick out more. The whole thing turned out great, and cost a FRACTION of the price of Anderson's stuff.
I got my supplies from this place:http://shop.airflowonline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv But I'm sure you could find it at others. Just an idea. There are other ways of doing it, but this is somewhat cheap and easy, and it flat out works. For NA engines, the straighter the airflow, the better. If I were an air molecule, I'd much rather pass through this than all the turns of a Powerpipe :D |
Re: Intake Tube Question
Thanks for the pic.
I'm starting to look at building my own setup, so that definitely helps me out. Nice setup BTW. |
