Silly question but...
Does the brand of cold air intake REALLY make a difference?
I ask b/c I found several ones on ebay for less than $50 brand new (allegedy). Is this a bad idea? |
Re: Silly question but...
Cold air intake systems are a huge waste of money. The stock intake system IS a cold air intake. That's why it's sitting on the fender. The flaw in the stock intake system is the pipe that goes between the throttle body and the MAF sensor. It's poorly shaped and allows for expansion. You want something that is smooth and rigid. You could probably fab something up at home depot using 3" PVC pipe. The hardest part is finding a way to connect your homemade tub to the throttle body and the MAF sensor.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634 Would it make a difference if I bought one of these and put a K/N filter on it? Would that work? |
Re: Silly question but...
it looks like it should do the job just fine the way it is just get some spray on filter oil and apply it before you install the filter remember to check and clean the filter when you change your oil and as stated before this is not a performance item neither is the k&n filter(imo) the style of filter should make no performance difference and i've actually heard of dyno results on motorcycles where the k&n filter hurt performance but for 50 pesos you cant get a set of chrome valve covers so i say go for it
