Thoughts on this 5.0 emblem replacement?
I'm thinking about getting this to replace my 5.0 emblems, but I'm wondering how its gonna turn out? Any opinions?

Re: Thoughts on this 5.0 emblem replacement?
Looks fine to me. As long as the emblem is the same size at the '5.0' emblem it replaces and is applied in the same spot on the fender (and put on straight) it should be O.K.
Having given my detached opinion on the replacement emblem you are considering I will have to add that, frankly, I don't see the point. The original Mustang '5.0' fender emblems are an intregal part of the Fox Mustangs' panache. Removing them to put an aftermarket '302 - High Performance' emblem in their place seems unnecessary at best and a minor form of desecration, at worst. I would reconsider this 'mod' before going ahead with it, but hey...it's not my Mustang. |
Re: Thoughts on this 5.0 emblem replacement?
I agree. It's purely a matter of personal taste and style, however I think this particular emblem harkens back to the 60's or 70's style of badging on vehicles. Remember when most cars had their names in cursive chrome, or the displacement on the front of the fenders? Or how about when Ford used to stick the individual letters of the car's name or F-O-R-D on the hoods of some models? My 1979 Capri was a great example of that, and I miss those quite a bit; today's badgings are boring, just like most modern designs and looks, i.e. jelly-bean cars. But, I digress.
It just doesn't have a modern look to it, in my opinion, and therefore would be out of place on a Fox body (especially when you consider the shapes & stylings of the Fox). But like Mr 5.0 said, it's your car, not ours. :) |
Re: Thoughts on this 5.0 emblem replacement?
Good point guys. You've conjured up images of 442, or 351...
I was considering it to make my car different (I've never seen that type of emblem on a fox body). I'll think on it some more, but thanks for your opinions. |
Re: Thoughts on this 5.0 emblem replacement?
Capri got it. The 302 badging does have a definate tie back to the older cars, and the 5.0 has the same type of thing with the fox bodies. Forgive the digression, but the fox was the "new" mustang at the time, and the 5.0 badge helped identify it, and even renamed the run as "Five ohs".
Want to stand out? Go for a 351 and 5.8 badges, LOL Just my .02 |
Re: Thoughts on this 5.0 emblem replacement?
stick with the 5.0 badges, even today a 5.0 demands respect, thats just what i think being a fox owner.
