Front suspension limiter?

Look at BF GOODRICH's ad, in just about any Mustang mag. The one with "Big Daddy" Dwayne Gutridge launching in it. If you look real close at his left front A-arm, there's a chain hanging on it.

Anyone have any idea what for? Suspension travel limiter? ??? I've been thinking about that same thing, but not sure it's a good idea. Then I see a chain on the fastest drag radial car out there, and now I'm thinking maybe it IS a good idea?

Thoughts?

Some people use travel limiters just to protect the strut. They will set them about 1/4 inch from the struts max extenstion.

I used mine to take out 2 1/2 inches of travel.

That's what I was thinking. On the ground, my fender opening is about 1" BELOW the top of the tire. When it launches, it's a good 7-8 inches above it.

Is it worth it?

It depends. If your car needs them they will help. I used mine to help keep the car off the bumper. Some people do the opposite and use drop spindles to give them even more dropout. It just depends on what the car wants.
