GT40p's???
Hey guys- it's been a few years since I got rid of an 86GT... so I missed it and just bought an 89GT :)
The guy told me it supposedly has GT40p heads -I don't know how to tell! I know the cam shakes the entire car though! I think I'll tear it down soon, but in the mean time is there anyway to tell if these are GT40p's? Also- are those any good? What do they come off of... Explorer? I have no idea what kind of cam, pistons, or anything else since I bought it last night. I did hit a rain shower and whipe out on an interstate bridge and end up head on into traffic on the way home because of the hard clutch and Mickey T's! Nothing like a near death experience to make your week. :D |
Re: GT40p's???
it should have it stamped on the head under the valve cover ..i think anyways it should be stamped on the head somewhere

Re: GT40p's???
they also have strait plugs instead of the normal angled ones.....

I believe the gt40p's had the four bars across the front similar to this. If you pull the valve cover, should be stamped in top of head. Ryan |
Re: GT40p's???
"GTP" will be seen on the passenger front just below the #1 header - and yes, they have 4 vertical bars (vs GT40 3-bar & "GT") cast into the front of the head.

Re: GT40p's???
Thanks guys... I'll check -I'm wondering if they are not stock though because the spark plugs are angled
