Open vacuum line sitting on pass. side firewall leaking fumes-where does it go??

I am not running a cannister purge system but this vac. line is leaking fumes like crazy. Where does it go and is it a reason for my enginge not running?? Thanks

I forgot to state that this vac. line is going directly into the gas tank. Can anyone help me now?

That's the evaporative emissions line that goes to the charcoal canister. I don't know if you can just plug it up or not. Our fuel caps are vented but since it is fuel vapor related, I will not offer any advice in regards to what to do about it. I still have my canister hooked up.

Jim is a wise man. I'm somewhat of a fool. You can cap it without any ill effects to your cars performance, but a canister is what you should use. They don't rob any power at all, yet some people feel they must remove them. I never understood that. Keep in mind that those fumes would be burned in your engine if you had a properly functioning charcoal canister installed.

Take care

Thanks for the honesty and advice guys. Do you think the cannister would help my engine get started? If not, I'd like to wait until I actually get going before I drop what little $$ I got left on that cannister purge system. I'm sure I'll have a check engine light on now :-)
