Ok, i have finally got my project car running. I am not in the clear yet. I noticed something strange today and was hopeing someone knew what was going on. I had painted my headers with supposed high heat paint, but as i let her warm up, i noticed it was not so durable.(the paint) anyway, what i noticed was the the #1,2,3,4 and 8 cylinder spots on the header had heated up and melted the paint. However the header parts near cylinders 5,6, and 7 were still coated with paint. It seemes as though they were not getting as hot as the other ones. If anyone knows what will cause this, please let me know. Thanks

High heat paint is not usually high enough heat for headers, they have a good heat wrap for headers you can order though. Depending on the thickness of the headers in those different spots, the temp will vary.

Also depends on the thickness of the paint itself. Some of those might have been a few mils thicker. Tough to tell when you spray them from a bug bomb.

Also, due to the natural tendencies of your intake manifold, some cylinders run a bit richer/leaner than others.

As long as she sounds good, and runs good, I don't think there's anything to worry about there. Get the headers Jet Hot coated, and go run her, and have some fun!

Most paints (even rated "1200°) will not live right next to the head.
