How much fuel pressure???

i have a holley 4bbl carb with a high volume holley electric fuel pump. unfortunately there is so much pressure that fuel spits out of the carb overflow, and today decide to catch on fire. i obviously have to put a regulator on, but i was wondering if anyone knew how much fuel pressure i will need to set it to. it hs some mods, but not many.thanks for the help

Re: How much fuel pressure???

no more than 6-7 psi on the holley carb.

Check your floats too. If they're sticking, or adjusted wrong (too high) it'll spit fuel out the vent tubes as well. Like LX Mike said, 6-7 for a carb is just right.

6-7psi, also when you put in the regulator keep an eye on it. Mine climbs to 11 psi if the pump is on engine off. If you can, spring for a better regulator than the holley. My blue pump came with a regulator and you see how well that's working..

Re: How much fuel pressure???

Higher end fuel systems don't have to worry about that stuff, but he's 100% right. When the fuel "dead heads" against your needle/seat the fuel pressure is gonna climb. The longer it runs, the higher it'll go. You should be OK with a Holley regulator for what you're up to, but keep in mind set the pressure with the engine RUNNING. Also like I said before, check the floats FIRST.
