Ive Got An 86' T5 An I Took The Motor An Trans. Out Of My Car At The Same Time An Some Fliud Came Out It Looked Like Gear Lube But I Alway Thought Trans Fliud Went In That Year Trans .....about A Year Ago I Added 2 Quarts Of Trans Fluid Cause 5th Gear Was Making A Loud Noise But Stopped After The Fluid Went In But It Was Thick Like Gear Lube An About The Same Color As It So Whats Suposed To Be In An 86' T5.......gear Lube Or Trans Fliud...... Theres Nothing Wrong With The Trans Whats So Ever.....

As far as I know, it is supposed to be dexron III.

Had an 86 for 5 years... ATF my friend. Dex III

For shure ATF, not gear lube. I use the synthetic Redline brand.
