28oz Harmonic Balancer How can I?
 

How can I tell if I have a 28oz or a 50oz Harmonic balance with out taking off the starter to check the eng casting No?

Also with out taking the balancer off? How can you tell what it is?

I have a 351W I don't realy know for sure what year it is as I havent got a chance to check the casting numbers that are behind the starter...

Any one know? How to?

To know for sure what engine you have, you are gonna have to take the starter off. Write down the casting numbers and post them here. You can tell what balancer is on the motor without taking it off. Look at the counter weight on it. If the counter weight does not go at least half way around the balancer, it is a 28 oz. If the counter weight is almost as big as the outer ring, then it is a 50. If you know that the motor runs and doesn't vibrate, then you can go by the balancer that is on the crank. But if you don't know this, we are gonna have to know the casting numbers.

Thats the answer I was looking for. The eng runs well. You save me the time and effort of taking off and replaceing the starter... If I cant see the balancer I will take the starter off and post the casting numbers here.

351's are all 28oz.

Only the 302's changed to 50oz.
