Just got my 66 coupe,(Tuning)

Hi all,

New to this group. Just got my 66 coupe, and even though I bought a workshop manual I cannot find the specs for basic maintenance, (spark and points gap, sump capacity etc.) Any help would be good. Is there a Haynes type manual? I have a few resto books but they dont help either.

She is a matching number 289 2v April 66, Emberglo with PS, console, remote mirrors and std balck interior. Unusual pairing I thought, probalbly will go with a emberglo parchment interior eventually. Car is now painted in a very faded burgundy. Great body and runs and changes strong. No rust or bog. I am just tinkering around to get it running smoother before a total rebuild. Fell in love with Mustangs when I was six and now at age 45 finally got one. This car came from San Francisco and is a San Jose made and a Seattle delivered.

Re: Just got my 66 coupe,(Tuning)

Point gap--.021 or 24-29 dwell
Plug gap--.032-.036
Timing--6 degrees BTDC
Idle--550 rpm automatic
625 rpm stick
Compression--130-170 psi
Vacuum--18
Firing order--1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
Oil capacity--4 qts plus 1 for filter=5 qts.

Hope that helps.

I would purchase a Ford Shop Manual. Much better then any of the aftermarket. They are available all the time on EBAY, etc.
