since it's a '92 it's a dual plug engine so you can't adjust timing.
a few things i can think of:
1. take the intake tube between the air cleaner and throttle body and replace it with a solid pipe (cold air intake kit or get bent pipe with hose connections, etc. - something you have to manufacture yourself).
-the intake tube has a muffler that restricts airflow into something like a 1 1/2" opening.
2. Take the air filter box and remove the silencer attached to the inlet and increase the opening with a cutting/grinding tool.
3. find a ford ranger tubular exhaust manifold (header), cheap and plentiful, but make sure it's the factory header and not a regular manifold.
4. not sure of the exact resistance, but install a resistor inline between the inlet air temperature sensor or engine coolant temperature sensor and harness so the engine thinks the engine is running slightly cooler so it'll add more fuel and timing for more power.
