Re: Headers and computer 05 stang

There are only two basic computers for the 05GT, CDC3 for the sticks and BKT3 for the autos. The computers are NOT interchangeable due to some of the drive-by-wire programming. If you change the gears, you really need to have a custom program done, again because of some of the underlying program associated with the DBW and torque limitations.

There are quite a few headers on the market, MAC/JBA/Hooker/Dynatech/SHM and more. Just do a little internet research and pick the header that you like best. I'd definitely put a set of Stage 8 locking bolts on at the same time. You only want to have to go after those bolts one time! I've found that the best way to tackle the headers on the 05 is to bite the bullet and drop the k-member. Its the only way to get good access to some of the bolts.

We recently had a 05GT auto in the shop with a Vortech V-2 setup. With a conservative tune, it pushed out 445rwhp at 6200rpm and was still climbing!
