Header Questions...

OK, I have 2 options. Hooker Comp., and Super Comp. Main differences:

Comp 28" primaries Super 31" primaries
Comp NOT equal length Super equal length

Is this worth the extra $200 for the Super Comps? Both are 1 5/8" primaries, 3" collectors, same flanges, etc etc etc.

Engine is approaching 600 FWHP (Estimated 580), REALLY likes 7,500 RPM, and makes gobs of torque. Canfield heads, Mr. Nasty cam, Victor Jr. intake, had a 750 Holley, steppin up to a "850" Chuck Nuytten prepped Holley.

Anyone have any input one way or the other? Performance mandates my decision, but I'm not opposed to saving myself $200 either. :D

I thought the Super Comps were "stepped" in diameter in the primaries.

Nope, not stepped (on this application anyways)

SUPER Comps:

With Hooker Super the objective has always been to
make the maximum horsepower and to put it at the optimum point
in the power curve. It takes a lot of time and money to do the job
right. We will sometimes spend up to 2 to 3 times more just to
make the Super header work only 5 to 10% better.
That commitment to excellence has made Hooker Headers the winningest
header manufacturer in automotive drag racing history.

Regular Competition: (No pic available)
Hooker Headers offer the best value in the high Performance header market. Designed for the value–conscious buyer who is running either a “stock” or “mildly–modified” engine, Hooker Headers offer premium features at a very competitive price.
Made of durable 16 gauge mild steel tubing, the Hooker header design utilizes a long transition collector to reduce back pressure and increase exhaust flow. A perfect sealing surface is assured with the 5/16” machined flanges, with welded O–ring seals. Experience has proven that this flange size is ideal to maintain header integrity and be pliable enough to seal each exhaust port. Tubing is mandrel–bent to maintain metal strength and provide consistent tube diameter at radii to maximize performance.
Hooker Headers have a standard finish that features a heat–cured, high–heat–resistant paint. Optionally, the famous Hooker Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating is available.

So, I don't see where the extra $200 is gonna be worth it. That, and looking at the picture of the Super Comps, the plug betwen #7 & #8 is gonna be a BITCH.

I'm officially confused!

Take a look at Kook's custom headers. They'll blow away the Hookers, hands down. One of the best things about the Kook's is the offset pattern adapter plates the let the primary be full size at the head. No squashing of the pipe to fit the anemically small Ford in-line pattern. Check them out at www.kookscustomheaders.com
