96 GT Misfire
 

Hi, I've got a low end misfire when ever I give the car some gas. Changed the plugs and was better for a couple of weeks, now it's back like it was. Checked the wires(original) all under 6k owms and no sign of any arching anywhere. the coils also appear to be working OK. the car drives fine as long as you don't gun it. :(

What is done with this car? Is it stock? Do you have a tune in it? What grade of fuel are you running? Automatic, manual? These will aid us in helping you.

Well, the car is totally stock, I use regular gas in it. the car runs perfect as long as you don't really hit the gas.It misses on a load in any gear. has a 5 speed, 215 hp. :)

Sounds like a coil pack problem. Change the Coil Pack, plugs and wires, then run some premium gas through it and see what happens. You may also have a blown head gasket. Do a leak down test and see what kind of compression you have.

Definitely check the coil packs...what kind of plugs did you use? If they are Bosch +4's or +2's that might be your problem. I only mention the Bosch plugs because I personally experienced this problem, as did many others.

Thanks, they are Bosch plugs. I'll change them, cheap fix if that's all it is.

Its the plug wires! I can guarantee it! The problem isn't the ohms, its they leak. If you inspect the the white plastic portion of the plugwire that sits in the hole you will see a little black spot somewhere on the white part. the spark jumps through the side of the wire and grounds out to the head. very, very common. Also bosch plugs wouldn't be my first choice of plugs. i like motorcraft but thats me.
