66 coupe goop

Hi all,
am pulling it all to pieces and noticing lots of this factory type sealant (like a black wax but a little harder)that went most around seams and bolt heads. In a lot of places (trunk, ffender splash plates) it was painted over with the final coat of color). As I want this car to be very close to original when finnished what is the common thing you should do. I will lose all of the original goop when it is sandblasted and dipped. Should I put it back? I must admit the large blobs of this stuff around the rear bumper bolts in the trunk looks ugly. However the car will be pampered for the rest of its life with me and may not need this level of rust protection. What do the Mustang Nazis at concours competition think ?

Thanks
Blinky

Re: 66 coupe goop

that is the combination of undercoating and their version of locktite back then, and sound deadning goop. If anything use dinomat of some kind and some undercoating.
