C5

I have a 91 mustang 5.0l, just changed my transmission from an AOD to a C5 from a ford half tonne, its a strong transmission the problem now is that in drive at about 55mph the rpms are at about 3500 rpm, pretty sure I have 3.73 in the rear,I guess my best bet would be to go to a 2.73,any opinions would be appericated, thank you.

I think you'll find that you have more gear then 3.73. The rpm sounds high. If you install 2.73's it will really drop down, plus you'll loose mucho power.

The C-5 at least has a lock up convertor.

Yes the rpms are too high, kickdown is at about 30mph now,its a good setup if i wanted to race it i think,I am more concerend about fuel mileage rate now,I found a set of 3.08s that a friend is going to let me try, hopefully this will have the car at 2000 rpm at about 55mph or close to it.

I am wondering the same thing. I have heard of a c5, but know nothing on it. I have not heard of putting them in a stang though.

A C-5 was basicly a a C-4 with a lockup convertor.
