Ignition Trouble

 i have a 65 351w . So one day i hop in my car i turn the ignition to start the car, and my fuel pump that usually starts pumping when i turn it to acc does not turn in. I checked the fuses and the wires coming from the fuel pump. I tried reconnecting the wires, only to get the wires mixed up again. Does anyone know the proper way to hook up your fuel pump wire to the ignition switch? Also i have a small meatal box with purple orange white red green/black wires coming out of it. It says "standard" on the box. Some of the wires run to the distributor and the others to the coil. Does anybody know how these wires are connected to which wires as well as the wires coming off the ignition switch and the fuel pump? i know it sounds confusing, if u can help hopefully i can better explain.

Re: Ignition Trouble

What I did was to add on an oil pressure switch (Holley) to the area where my oil pressure sending unit is. That allows voltage only when oil pressure is on. Then your fuel pump will pump only when the engine is running. I also have a hot line running to the switch + when the engine is being cranked, thereby pumping fuel as well while cranking.

I also have that same line acting as a trigger to a relay operating my two electric fans for radiatror cooling. I don't really want anything running unless my engine is running, therefore the oil pressure switch.

Hope this all makes sense.
