Just started my first mustang project. Is there an easy way to install new gauge lenses in a 68 ?

They aren't that hard. Buy the new lens from a vendor, NPD has them listed. Remove the cluster.

Get a large towel, lay the cluster down and remove the screws that hold it together on the back. Lay out everything so you know how it came apart and how to put it back together. Good idea to take a few "Digital pictures" of the rear of the cluster so you know how it looked "Before" you took it apart.

After you get the gauges out, replace the lens's. Make sure they are clean and watch for static electricity that will attrack all kinds of lint and stuff.

Use a very soft brush and sweep away any dust, lint, etc. Also a good time to touch up the gauge pointers, orange tips. If you do this use "VERY LITTLE" paint. It can effect how the gauge reads from the weight of the new paint, if you get alittle too liberal with it.

Put it back together and reinstall it in car.

Looks like new.

Thanks.. Will I have to disconnect the oil line from the gauge before I do this?

not if you have a electric sending oil pressure gauge,(which if its stock it will have)it will have wires not a oil line.just pull the gauge cluster out real slow and label the wires so it will be easy to go back in after youve changed the lenses. sometimes the speedo cable can be a bear but just take your time, that stuff is old and some will be brittle so dont yank or get too rough...should be a snap though
