starting problem HELP!!!!

I have been fighting this problem for about 2 weeks. First thing in the morning or if it sits for acouple hours the car fires right up. Now if it sits and idles and gets warm or if I drive it to work about 5 miles and shut the car off it wont start. It will try and start but, its like the battery is very low. Ive replaced the battery, the ground from the battery, the cable from the battery to the switch, the cable to the starter from the switch, checked the ground from the engine to the firewall with an ohms meter, and I rebuilt the starter. Any suggestions? thanks

Did you replace the entire neg cable or just the ground? Check the connection to the block(neg) make sure it's clean, battery terminals are clean. I had a similar problem, it was the ground from the neg battery terminal to the fender. I replaced it with a thicker gauge wire and it worked fine.

I replaced the entire negative battery cable. All attaching points for all the cables have been cleaned or sanded down to ensure a good connection.

Next is the starter, heat soak is a _itch.

If all things like grounds, battery, alternator check good. Its most likely your starter.

A friend and I were talking the other day about finding rebuild kits for starters and alternator. Niether of has seen a rebuild kit for a good while. Where'd you come to find one for the starter? I kinda miss doing it.

Barrow a different starter or just buy a new one, to see if thats finally it. Should be.

I actually found the rebuild kit at autozone and you can order one at parts america.com. The only reason that I did buy a new starter to begin with is because I hadnt seen a rebuild kit in awhile and wanted to do it. But, ya im going to load test the alternator, battery and replace the starter with a new one. thanks

What's in the rebuild kit?? Brushes, bearings, bushing, etc. What about if the the commutator is bad?? If the car won't start sometimes, the commutator could have a bad, dead, spot in it and you can change all the brushes, bearings, etc and it won't do a darn thing.....except frustrate you. Do yourself a favor, bite the bullet and buy a reman. starter.

I would check the coil to see if it overheating and making it not start. I had that happen in my 87 stang 351w.
