5.0 LX mustang tranny problem
I have a 1988 LX 5.0 Mustang with about 350 horsepower that the tranny was recently rebuilt. I received the car back and when I tested it in Overdrive the tranny would take like 2 seconds to kick in after I floored the car. Also when I am doing like 80mph and floor the car the rpm's at about 85 mph are in the yellow. I basically cant go above 85 or 90 due to the fact the rpm's will be in the red. The reason I rebuilt the tranny in the first place was because in the car was not working in overdrive at all over 65mph, the rpm's would just race and the car would not go anywhere. What needs to be done? Does the overdrive have to be adjusted or the tranny rebuilt again? Does anyone know what the problem is?

Re: 5.0 LX mustang tranny problem
Make Darn sure your detent cable is hooked up too the throttle body along with the throttle cable...It will burn your tranny up on a first drive in some cases if it isn't hooked up....

Re: 5.0 LX mustang tranny problem
definately go c-4, with 3,000 stall. its the real thing! I drive my car everyday with that setup. Call tci they will hook you up all for 1,500 for trans/conv/bellhous. its a deal you wouldnt believe the shift difference
