Exhaust Manifold Questions for 01GT
Are the exhaust manifolds easy to replace?? I wanna keep the stock h-pipe set up with the Flowmaster catback kit on the car, but I wanted somewhat of a deeper rumble..Something that still sounds like an anniversary edition Mustang but much more tone. I've heard long-tube headers are a way to go, then again people have said the same thing about short headers..someones' lying to me. Also, whats' the difference between ceramic headers and aluminum, besides the price? Or am I looking in the wrong place?..Maybe I need a different exhaust kit. Maybe its' just me but I seem to hear a difference between the exhaust put-out on my car (from the inside) and other Mustangs of the same generation (from the outside)..What I might need is someone to drive my car past.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Questions for 01GT
If you are looking for horsepower on a near-stock setup, switching to different headers would not be my first choice of mods.
Not much of a power gain and sometimes a pain in the a$$ to install. |
Re: Exhaust Manifold Questions for 01GT
Its not so much horsepower I need (the car is fast enough in a town with 25mph speed limits) what I wanted was to enhance the sound of the flowmaster a little. I like the tone but I've heard anniversary edition Mustangs role past me near my house with exhaust set-ups that just seem to sound a little deeper and louder than mine. Again, I've never heard my car accelerate with me anywhere but the driver's seat. Sometimes the interior resonance can drown out the sound coming from the end of the tail pipes.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Questions for 01GT
It might be cheaper to have someone you REALLY trust drive your car by you to get the real sound coming from your car.
You never know, you may get a different feel by getting the sound from the outside. I know my car sounds much different to those outside of the cabin than to myself sitting in the drivers seat. |
