help on my pi swap

i am in the middle of my pi swap doing it myself and had few questions i was told i only needed new intake now i read new valve covers? is this true? and i am down to my pistons right now and was wondering good way to get the carbon and build up off my piston heads without damaging and without taking them out and if there is any other parts i am going to need so i can put it all back together and get back on the road thanks

Depends on which heads you got. Windsor heads have 13/14 bolts and romeo heads have 11 both sides.

If the heads came off an 01 they are most likey romeo heads meaning the heads will have 11 bolts for the valve covers. Your current heads should also be romeo, 11 bolts, so you shouldn't need new valve covers.

Try some carb cleaner and a rag and a little elbow grease.
