I have a electrical problem with my 66 Mustang. Can crank with screw driver under the hood. Can not get new ignition switch to crank it.

Please help. Thank You.

Re: Electrical Problem

what was the the problem before you replaced the ignition switch? did you get the right switch? and is the new switch making the starter Solenoid
click at all? not knowing the problem you have, it sounds like the Solenoid is bad if you can cross it and start it..its a common problem when the plunger gets stuck in those Solenoids...

Re: Electrical Problem

Solenoid, starter, voltage regulator, battery and switch are all new.
Had car running in the driveway. It just stopped. Ingition did not work. Lights come on. Started to replace the above parts to solve the problem. Nothing seems to work.

Just wondering if you got the right wires on the correct terminals of the ignition switch and/or the solenoid ?

It was running in the driveway and just died? Then wouldn't crank? I'm not to familar with 66's wiring but I would look for a burned fuse link. Hope it helps

Re: Electrical Problem

I have a burned wire problem. The wires from the switch to the solenoid were burned.

Thanks for the help.
