best street engine?
 

i just picked up antoher engine and i want to freshen it up and throw it in my stang. What is the best and still streetable engine to build. i think this engine is going to need to be bored just so its fresh cause i dont know how many miles are on it, but i want it to still be daily driven.

What do you mean? Stroker kit? Big block?

its a 302 h.o. motor and i want to no what the best way to build it for the street and to make it have some power. like should i just have it fit with a set of pistons or have it bored. if i bore it should i put a stroekr kit in it. is a 347 to big and not economical for the street

Bigger is always better. A 331 stroker would be the best IMHO for a street car thats driven alot.

thanks, but what about heads, intake and injectors? can i use the 19lb injectors? do i need aluminum heads? is the stock intake usable on a stroker?

Do you want to keep all that stuff stock? Or upgrade? All depends on how much you want to spend. And how fast you want it to be :D

well i would like to keep it to a low budget, cuz the heads that were on the motor i got are in good shape and i would send them out anyout to have them redone, but are they enough for a 331? and then even so would my stock intake be able to give the motor what it needs?

The stock heads and intake wouldn't be enough for a 331. Might look at something like this

If you're sending the heads out to be gone through, a set of his heads might be worth it. Find out how much a valve job costs, plus the price of any new valves you need.

I would suggest the 331 as stated before. I would also suggest deciding what HP you want to strive for, get a good solid head/intake/cam package, as this what makes the beast come to life IMHO

Yep, what he said. You don't have to spend a ton of money to make a daily driver run really well. Just have to spend it in the right place. H/C/I is where it's at. Get out of "race mode" and keep in mind this is a daily driver, don't go overboard and you'll be extremely happy with the end result.

Buy quality, not on the edge race prepped parts. Remember just because it says, "Race" or "Off Road Use Only" doesn't equal superior quality or Heavy Duty. Most "Race Only" parts are on the edge for the maximum in performance, at the expense of reliablity. For the street you need it to stay together and be able to idle for 5-10 minutes at a time without overheating. Keep the compression where you can run pump gas, without octane additive.

Built correctly it will last a long time on the street.

Id stay 302/306, and focus on getting some good heads, id stay with iron, maybe some roush 200's with an f303-cam, and a cheap explorer, or typhoon intake, stock 19 lb injectors, and fuel pressure regulator, all of that for around 1k, then stroke it, or spray it as the money becomes available, of couse having all the money at once is better, but someone like me is pushing it, even spending a couple hundred bucks at a time.
