scanner not seeing ecm
Hi, wondering if any one has encountered this or knows if I might be correct in my thinking. I've had my 95 GT at two garages and they have hooked up under the dash and under the hhod two differant scanners and don't see anything can't recieve memory info nothing you don't hear the senors clicking when put into engine on mode. Could this be a sign the computer has died? Anyone have any thoughts. By the way car still starts and runs by not like it should.

Re: scanner not seeing ecm
Yep, could be the ECM. Are all the wires good, not bent or rusted?? If everything is hooked up and you have good, solid, clean connections next thing to try is ECM.

Re: scanner not seeing ecm
OBDII port on a 94/95 is not an active port. You'll notice that there are only four pins in the connector. It had very limited uses on these cars and did not become fully functional until 96 (at least for the V8 Mustang). Make sure that you're using the correct test connector under the hood. There is a connector by the battery/drivers shock tower that is actually the ABS test connector even though it looks identical to the EEC test connector. It's usually got a red cover to it. You'll find the EEC test connector over by the passenger's shock tower. It is usually black. Don't forget that you need the separate STI connector (single wire/connector) to initiate the test sequence.

Re: scanner not seeing ecm
Traditionally, when a Ford OBDI ECM goes bad, a few things happen; The fuel pump stays on as long as the key is in the Run position, the engine will crank over, but won't start, and the ECM won't be able to be reached or have any codes pulled from it.
