429 thunderjet

Anybody know much about these engines? A friend of mine just got one and wants to know what other engines will have interchangeable parts. He wants to know about the interchangability of cranks, see if he can get some more cubes. Also a good cam for it. His goal is a cheap torque monster, as its in a truck he and some other friends are using to tow derby cars... :rolleyes:

The only thing that I know that will interchange some is the 460.

Don't remember if the 460 is a stroked 429 or bored. Sorry, been a few years.

Yeah, I read that while doing some research. I would assume its by stroke, I wouldnt imagine it being too feasible to increase the CI by 31 with a larger bore alone.

429==4.36 X 3.59

460==4.36 X 3.85

It's all stroke.

Check www.460ford.com
You can go up to 557 cubes with a stock block. FWIW, the crank and pistons are different between the 429/460, rods are the same.
