Help! Converting a Coupe to a Convertible

hi there,

hope you can help. My name is Stuart, i live in South Africa, and im trying to locate a mustang. Problem is, there are plenty around but our local government dont allow to import LHD cars. We use Right Hand... So... ive found a late 60's 302 V8 Coupe locally, already in country, but would love to convert it to a convertible. Does anyone know of a kit that is perhaps avail, or can point me to someone who can possibly assist....

thanks in anticipation

Wannabe Mustand Owner

As you may or may not know this is a tremendous task  . Convertibles have added torque boxes for rigidity. If you were to cut the top off a classic it would be a matter of time before the car would start sagging or even bend like a taco. I would say making a non convertible car a convertible is much more difficult than making a coupe a fastback. And we all know what an undertaking that can be. Besides ruining the classic value of the car, the resale value would be much lower. Just my
.02 cents.

Mustangs plus also sells a reinforcing kit i believe, with the torque boxes and subframe connectors, plus other metal I do believe. Reinforce it and I believe you'd be good to go.
