Stroker oil pan/ oil pump ?'s
 

I have $2,500.00 dollars worth of 331 shortblock on the way and I want to make sure that my oiling system is up to the task of protecting my investment. I also want an oil pan that will clear my main girdle etc...

I am not sure what oil pan, oil pump or pick up tube to use.

I would really appreciate some guidance from people that have been there and done that.

My 342 has a canton on it. I let the poeple that sent me the motor send the correct pan

I have a 347 ready to go in my 68 Cougar. It doesn't have a girdle on it and I have the aluminum Cobra pan that is a knock off of the 65 GT350. With the front sump it fits the older style car.

On the late models, which it looks like what you're building, I agree with 88Workcar and let whom ever is suppling your crank, etc to supply the pan. Just tell them what you're putting it in.

If they don't sell oil pans, get an 8 quart pan from one of the name brand pan companies. Like Canton, Milidon, Hamburger, etc. I don't think you'll have a problem.

Oil pump, Melling is about the best. The pick up would be which ever one matches the pan. The pan manufactore will help you there.

192cc Canfield aluminum heads, 2.02 1.60 valves, 54cc chambers, after the port work they flow nearly 300cfm.

Edelbrock performer RPM II intake manifold with a 75mm TB

Z303 cam

1 3/4 long tubes
etc...

I am hoping for mid 11's on the motor and 10's with a little nitrous. I just hope the T5 will take it. :D

FWIW I was running a STOCK dual hump pan on my 347, with zero problems. Cleared the girdle and everything, I was amazed. Ran it with that pan until the car left, and had no intentions of changing it.

Now, I have a Moroso 8 qt, because as mentioned you need the front sump with the rear steer older Fords. ;)

I'd prefer the added 4 quarts or so with the aftermarket pan. Oil runs alot cooler and oil pump won't pump the pan dry at higher rpms.
