Brake Rebuild Suggestions
I just finished having a 300hp 302 w/ gt40 heads installed and a full c4 tranny rebuild. To handle all this added power, I figure a full brake system rebuild is in order to make sure I can stop it when I need to. I have discs on front and drum in back. Manual brakes, dual master cylinder.
What brake rotors, pads, caliper, master cylider, lines, etc. would you guys suggest. I'm not looking for a race-worthy pricetag, but I do believe you get what you pay for. With that in mind, what is a reasonably priced and long lasting setup to get my girl to stop for years to come. Any installation advice is appreciated too. |
Re: Brake Rebuild Suggestions
I ended up putting a dual master cylinder from a late model Lincoln mark VIII in mine bolted up to an 87 stang power booster. I wanted the power brakes with a dual cylinder, but didn’t want to pay the price. I am pretty darn happy with how it turned out, but there is some "minor" fabrication to get the install to work properly. The price tag was also very good.
There is a kit that some of the guys run on here that has better pads and a shoe, claiming the stopping power is much better with this kit. I will do some searching and post what I find when I get home here in a while. I am thinking of running this kit this summer. Ryan |

Re: Brake Rebuild Suggestions
SSBC makes some nice kits, my brother got a kit from them for his 74 camaro. I believe disks on just the front would be just fine, unless you want to go all out with the 4 wheel disc setup.

Re: Brake Rebuild Suggestions
You may want to check with Master Power Brakes. They have really good parts and the prices are cheaper than most.
