EGR Valve for a '93 LX 5.0L HO "Feature Car"

Hi,

I'm having a difficult time locating an EGR valve for my '93 LX. It is one of the limited edition "Feature" cars produced by Ford. The OEM part number is F3AE-9F483-A2A. I have tried a few online sites (including fordparts.com) and some local parts places, but none of them can cross-reference the part number. NAPA Auto Parts had one that looked very close to the OEM part, however the base of the unit is too wide and will not bolt up to the EGR spacer. The EGR butts up to a bracket on one side and the NAPA part will not fit.

Any thoughts on where I could get some assistance or locate the part? Please excuse the post if this has been covered before or recently. This is the first time I have logged on to the board since 2003 (I have been a bit busy) and I'm getting ready to sell her after 10 years.

If it matters, here are some specifics on the car:
1993 LX Convertible
5.0L SFI HO (stock)
49,711 miles

Thanks!

Have you tried your local Ford Dealer? If ANYONE can cross that part number, they can.

If it was me, that'd be my next stop.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up having to go through Ford. The problem is the old part number has been discontinued and is superseded by a new unit that also requires a new Position Sensor. Had to be ordered and is supposed to be in this Wednesday. Will end up costing me about $100 more than I cared to spend, but it is what it is. As long as the new part will fit in place of the old one, I will be good to go.

Cheers....

As a matter of fact, yes I did. Bolted it up Saturday afternoon, along with the new position sensor and I was on my way in about 20 minutes. Had a nice run down Highway 1 today with the top down. :D

The size of the new unit appears to be exactly the same as the old. The visible difference between the two seems to be with the assembly of the device and the mechanism that protrudes from the valve into the spacer.

New Part Numbers:
E7PZ-9H473-H - Valve
F2ZZ-9G428-B - Sensor

Thanks again for the tips and replies.

Goodyear,

Thanks for the tip. I was unaware. Are there any implications if I do not reset the position?

Here is a snap I took on Sunday. Just thought I would share given all the advice you provided.
