1965 Ac

Hello all from H-Town!

I am looking a buying a 1965 or so Mustang. One question I have is that living in Houston requires that you have a VERY good AC. How is the AC's on older mustang's? Can they be built up to put out some serious chill? Thank you!

65's were all hang on units. Under the dash.

There are some companies out there that change the compressor to a modern one and make them work pretty good.

My '66 came with a hang down unit when new. I don't have it installed now, but it worked well when I did have it in the past. The newer Sanden (sp?) compressors with the newer refrigerant probably work even better. These Conversions are widely available.

Guess thats one nice thing about living in Minnesota, though it can/does get hot, not normally too bad to where I cant just roll down the window and go real fast. Snow sucks.

Thank you for the responses! I know they make the AC's but are they any good?

Another question I have is Ebay the best way to go for a purchase? I read somewhere that those cars tend to be too expensive. Any thoughts?
